November 17th EMFAB

In this week's show I celebrate peanuts. Songs by them and about them. Also, songs about people who sell them. The star of the show is The Peanuts, twins Emi and Yumi Ito, the Japanese vocal duo active from 1959 - 1975.
The star song of the show is 'The Peanut Vendor' (El Manisero) composed by Moises Simons in the 1920s-ish. This nut-based madness was inspired by hearing The Peanuts for the first time in many years played on Bodega Pop last week. Thanks Gary.
On a whim, I searched for how many songs there were about, or by, or mentioning, peanuts. Hundreds! Here is my pick of them, arranged in a relatively pleasing order. You can stream the show at Give The Drummer Radio HERE . You'll also find a complete playlist, with many links to the tunes I played.

A change of venue

I was intending to do my monthly show for Radio 4A tomorrow, Thursday 25th June. However, it didn't work out. I will not be doing another show for them.
The fantastic news is that I have a slot on my favourite radio station WFMU, on their internet stream 'Give the Drummer a Radio', starting at the end of September. It will be weekly, and live, with a live chat stream.
I will be doing a couple of teaser shows on Tuesday 21st and Tuesday 28th of July, 3-5pm (New York time).
My show proper will begin on Tuesday 28th September, also 3-5pm. All the shows are archived, so there is a listen again feature, and it would be great if you could join me live and join in with the chat stream.

Meanwhile, here are my 3 picks for the month....music you must buy right now because it's so wonderful.
Eula - Wool Sucking  CD/Vinyl/Digital on Famous Sounds Records
Felix Leband - Deaf Safari  CD/Vinyl/Digital on Compost Records
Fucked Up - Year Of The Hare  Vinyl/Digital on Deathwish Records

See you next month.

The Return Of Eclectic Music For Mind And Bodhi

After having such fun filling in on Radio 4A earlier this month, I decided it was time to revive 'EMFMAB'. I've missed sharing all the great new music that I find.
I will be broadcasting a 2 hour show Monthly, on the last Thursday of the month, 8-10pm, LIVE on Radio 4A . If you live in Brighton/Hove in the UK, you can listen on regular radio at 101.4 FM.
This show will not be available to download. Be there...or don't.

During the show you can email me at emfab at wombnet dot com.
I am aiming to do a blog post the day before the show with a playlist and other details.
There will also be a mailout at that time, and a reminder 1 hour before the broadcast.
If you want to be on that mail list, just email me "subscribe".

The first show will be on April 30th...that's this Thursday...at 8pm.

Please tune in. It would be great if you could email me to let me know that you are listening.
Oh...and tell your friends.
